The Long and the Short of the Strange Case of Anthony Weiner

As you all know, Rep. Anthony Weiner was caught, literally, with his pants down.  Weiner twittered a picture of his wiener to all his followers, rather than the one woman he intended (not his wife).

At first, Weiner denied everything. offering the limp excuse that he was “hacked” or “pranked”.  When pressed, Weiner continued to beat around the bush.  Then the pressure came to a head.  Weiner came clean and admitted that he lied; it was Weiner’s wiener after all.

The controversy continues to swell in the press.  Republicans, predictably, demanded a Weiner probe immediately.  However, a surprising voice has joined the chorus; uber partisan Democrat Nancy Pelosi wants a Weiner probe as well.  Yikes.  With both sides of the isle turning against him, Weiner has a long, hard road ahead of him.

Despite the increasing pressure, Weiner maintains that he will not resign.  His constituents appear to have mixed feelings about Weiner.  Some are demanding a stiff penalty for Weiner’s lying.  Others, however, believe he should be given a second chance.

Any way you slice it, Anthony Weiner is sure to have a big sack of trouble for some time to come.  He may not want others to dictate the terms of his departure from office.  However, its possible that the increasing calls for Weiner to pull out may become too much to fend off.

(Incidentally, Weiner’s wife, Huma, is an aide to Hillary Clinton; a woman who knows a thing or two about out of control wieners.  Huma is likely the only woman in Washington who does NOT want a Weiner probe.)

Stay tuned, folks, the climax of the Weiner case is yet to come…
